We were appointed by a private client to carry out an aerial drone survey of a residential property in Dorset, providing a thorough condition assessment of the roof and other upper-level building features.
The client required an independent condition assessment of the property’s roof and upper-level features following a recent storm. They had concerns about potential damage to roof coverings and the performance of drainage outlets, as well as the general condition of chimney stacks, the building render and façade.
Traditional inspection methods would have required scaffolding or working at height, increasing both cost and disruption. An aerial drone survey offered a safer, faster and more efficient way to inspect the building.
The detailed aerial drone survey of the property captured clear, close-up images of the roof coverings, drainage outlets, chimney stacks, and upper-level windows and façade.
Conducted by an experienced buildings and façade consultant, it reviewed multiple elevations and roof areas, paying particular attention to roof slopes, junctions and drainage points where issues can commonly arise.
Following completion of the drone survey, Barry Jubb Associates reviewed the high-resolution imagery in detail and produced a structured condition report describing the condition of the property’s roof and high-level façade elements.
Supported by photographic evidence, this provided a clear visual record of the inspection and recommended next steps to maintain the integrity and safety of the building.
The drone survey provided clear visual evidence that the roof coverings remained in good condition, with no missing or damaged roof tiles following the recent storm. The inspection also confirmed that the roof drainage outlets were clear and functioning as intended, reducing the risk of water build-up and potential water ingress.
By using drone technology, Barry Jubb Associates carried out a comprehensive inspection safely and efficiently, without the need for scaffolding or intrusive access. This reduced cost, minimised disruption to the client and avoided unnecessary risk.
